Colin Timmerman

ADVISOR


 

Colin Timmerman joined the Kyle House Group in November 2023 as an Advisor. Previously, Colin worked in the U.S. Congress for over 4 years, including experience working in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. 

In January 2020, Colin joined the office of U.S. Representative Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) as a Legislative Assistant overseeing the Congressman’s House Foreign Affairs Committee portfolio. Prior to Congressman Yoho’s retirement in January 2021, Colin worked extensively on security, human rights, foreign assistance, and international development issues.  

In February 2021, Colin joined the office of U.S. Representative Young Kim (R-CA-40) as her first Senior Legislative Assistant managing her work for the House Foreign Affairs Committee, in addition to an issue portfolio spanning defense, healthcare, education, and the environment. During the 117th Congress, Colin led a number of legislative initiatives, including support for North Korean and Uyghur human rights, facilitating humanitarian evacuations from Afghanistan, and expanding telehealth access following the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Colin departed the office of Representative Kim in June 2022 to participate in the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Fellowship Program, a U.S. State Department-sponsored fellowship program which allows federal employees to live in Tokyo, Japan for one year while working in placements inside the Government of Japan. Colin’s work included placements with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and the National Diet, where he gained Japanese language proficiency and valuable insight into issues pertaining to Japan and the Indo-Pacific region.

Colin is a native of Iowa, where he attended Drake University and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Political Science. He remains a loyal fan of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
