Location: This position requires residence in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Policy Associate will be fully remote on a daily basis. Candidates must be local and available for in-person Hill meetings and events.

Position Overview

The Policy Associate position will focus on supporting the team and administration of the firm, and the new team member will have every opportunity to grow in a fast-paced, successful, and innovative organization.
The Policy Associate will work primarily with our portfolio of clients on international affairs issues, including global health, foreign assistance, international trade, and commercial policy. The Policy Associate will provide comprehensive support in client services, planning and execution of meetings and events, outreach tracking, research and analysis, and other duties.
Position Responsibilities
Client Services
Manage day-to-day operations, note-taking, and follow up for the firm’s clients.
Learn key priorities for clients and develop subject matter expertise to advance client interests.
Attend Congressional hearings and markups, association events, and think tank programs regarding areas of interest to client matters and write summaries for partners.
Draft policy summaries, memoranda, and proposals for Partners.
Review key periodicals, websites, and media, and draft client updates.
Prepare itineraries and manage trip logistics for client visits and meetings in DC.
Team Support
Research, scheduling, and preparation of materials for meetings, trips, and events.
Accompany Partners and clients to key meetings, manage logistics, take notes, and prepare meeting summaries and agendas.
Brief Partners on policy developments, on daily tracking of issues or legislation moving through Congress, and on client developments.
Other Duties
Event Planning: Work with the KHG team to develop event plans and manage logistics of off-site events.
Network Development: Develop professional peer network within clients, companies, congressional offices, agencies, other consulting firms, and associations.
Candidate Requirements
Based in the Washington, D.C. metro area
Experience with global health and/or international development issues
Minimum 3 years of Capitol Hill experience
Excellent communications, social, and interpersonal skills
Strong writing and research skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Able to manage multiple work streams and meet tight deadlines
Willing to work long hours when necessary, travel, and attend high-level meetings
Works well on teams, both within and outside the office
Comfortable working with Congressional offices and Executive agencies
Exhibits leadership, good judgment, and trustworthiness
